The king Hezekiah was in his worst life moment in the passage Izaiah 38. Sometimes the situation is so hard that just what we want is to find a solution and not to talk about it because we aren’t able to find a solution ourselves. God doesn’t want that for us. He has done wonderful things. Hezekiah received a letter of affront from the king Sennacherib saying that his kingdom and his people would be destroyed. If Hezekiah hadn’t relied on God, Sennacherib would have had power to do so. Sennacherib had already destroyed many other peoples and told Hezekiah not to lie to his people saying that God would deliver them from it. He numbered the nations he had destroyed. Sennacherib challenged God with these words. The result would be the destruction of Hezekiah and his people. He was being threatened, humiliated, affronted by a very powerful king. To make matters worse, Hezekiah wasn’t even able to get two thousand soldiers for his army. The worst of all, he got sick. Soon afterwards, Izaiah went there to warn him against his death.

Along my ministry I have met many desperate people. Hezekiah’s situation is not that easy at all. When you analyze it, you try to find a solution, but when you realize the degree of difficulty, you get desperate. When you see how big your debt is, doors closing, bad news, the country getting downsized it’s the moment to show your faith. That’s the reason why the Word says “The righteous will live by his faith”. The faith touches deeply God’s heart. There’s no one good, but just people who improve their faith in such a way that breaks barriers.

At that time, God’s men used to receive the news in a different way. God sent the message that he would die to the king, who was in bed, through the prophet. Actually, the king might have thought that the victory was coming when he saw the prophet getting into and saying that he would die. Faithfully Hezekiah turned his face to the wall cried and prayed. Sure he was a sinner, as we are, but he had the sense of justice. When he said that he was always right and loyal, it didn’t mean that he never sinned. It meant that justice was more important to him. God knows we fail, but when we track the right path, we open our mouth and heaven opens its doors to us. He prayed and cried. The prophet didn’t have enough time to go any further. He came back to tell the king that God heard his prayers. Hezekiah asked for his healing and showed his faith in God even being disillusioned by God. God healed him and delivered him from the king of Assyria. He asked for one thing and received two. Both of them very big ones, the cure of his unhealable illness and the victory over his enemies. People’s faith has become weaker and weaker. God controls everything so you have to rely on him even if the circumstances aren’t for that. When the evil puts difficult situations in your life which you can’t see the exit, rely on God, be faithful and celebrate your victory. The king Hezekiah didn’t have anyone to count on but God. That’s what happens to us. When you can’t see anyone by your side to count on, you have God who is the only One willing and powerful enough to help you solve your problems. When you show your love to God, He turns the world around, but brings you the solution for your problems. Hezekiah was humble, but he knew it. God sent the prophet to do that in order to tease the king’s faith. You are faithful. When you say you aren’t, you lie or ignore it. Evil threatens your life, but has fears of your faith. Everything he doesn’t want you to know it is about that. By Hezekiah’s faith God gave him everything he wanted and much more. That’s what God is going to do to us. He will even provide us with things that we didn’t remember to ask for. In relation to Sennacherib, the powerful brave man, while he loved his own god, his own children harmed him with a sword and ran away. His children killed him because there’s no other powerful man but God. When a situation causes you either despair, concerns or worries you have to keep in mind that God doesn’t require resume nor letter of application for him to approve of you. He visits you all the time. He doesn’t search for any diplomas, certifications. He searches for faith in you. The confession of faith pleases God. Recognizing love in God all the time means a lot of faith. Nothing and nobody has the power of faith. Faith is the only capable of moving a mountain from a place to another. A faithful person gets everywhere. Believe in what God promised you and never give up.
